It’s been a long year, and finally Hyper is pretty darn quiet. Tumbleweed city. It’s kind of like walking into the site of a gang war, after the ambulances have removed all evidence of the maelstrom. From heights of insane pressure to long periods of comprehesive boredom and creative lull, everyone’s finally reached the point of throwing their hands in the air and organising their own tactical withdrawal from Sweden. As such, we only have the final project left to distract us from the inevitable goodbye and it seems bittersweet. My own relationship with learning from Hyper has been somewhat sporadically ruined by my own shortcomings, as well as enabled by them. We have one last lecture to go on November 5th, from a guy from from Pixar, Paul Kanyuk. He’s a Lead Technical Director, which sounds pretty awesome so hopefully I’ll be sitting up front and channeling a earlier version of myself when I wanted to be a computer animator.
