There was such chance here to make one of the characters a ‘writer/actor/comedian for a late night sketch comedy show’ and create something with teeth that was genuinely funny.
If you lay out the process by which people somehow manage to get hired by Lorne Michaels for this show it would sound as utterly ridiculous as anything they had any of these other characters say and have been very very funny.
I’m on the internet so I must know what I’m talking about.
